Don’t forget: June 6 is the postmark date for entries in the 2002-2003 Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Awards. The Call for Entries is posted on line at www.NTAUpperMidwest.org.

 

Silver Circle Nominations Requested

Silver Circle Chair Sarah Holland (KMSP/WFTC) is asking for nominees for The Silver Circle. “This is the most meaningful honor we bestow,” said Holland. “It is how we recognize the men and women who have made significant contributions to our industry for 25 years or more. We need your help to identify and honor these individuals.” Nominations are due June 20, 2003. Silver Circle Presentations will be made at the Emmy Awards Gala on October 25, 2003. `The nomination form is posted online, or email [email protected] to request a copy in the mail.

 

Molly Ivins: “Critiquing the Media”

The Minnesota Journalism Center presents Molly Ivins, best-selling author and widely syndicated political columnist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Ivins is recognized as one of the nation's wittiest and best-known political pundits. Author of the best-selling book, "Molly Ivins Can't Say That Can She?," she is the former co-editor of the liberal monthly Texas Observer and former Rocky Mountain bureau chief for The New York Times. She has also worked for the Houston Chronicle, the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the Dallas Times Herald.

Ivins' lunchtime talk to the journalist audience will critique media coverage of national events, public and political figures and current affairs.

The Minorities in Broadcasting Training Program

Applications are being accepted for the News Reporter Training Program. Applicants must be college graduates and fulfill other requirements. For details about the program, visit www.theBroadcaster.com, select INFO, then TRAINEE. The deadline has been extended to June 30th. Applications are available as a download only.

The Minorities in Broadcasting Training Program is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization formed in 1993 to provide training opportunities to minority college graduates in television and radio news reporting and news management.
