Jason
Davis
It's appropriate that KSTP Reporter Jason Davis came to
the Twin Cities' television station as an experienced
world traveler. Davis, born in London, spent his youthful
years as a British merchant seaman. He settled in Australia
where he began his television news career four years later.
By
the time he arrived at KSTP-TV in 1976, Davis knew he
liked the feel of being on the move - whether on the water
or "On the Road."
Although
Davis has won awards for documentary, investigative, and
sports reporting, it's his work with the "On the
Road" news features that gives him the greatest satisfaction.
He calls it a creative freedom to interpret happenings
or events in a way that is informative and entertaining.
Davis'
reporting has taken him to the North Pole with Minnesota
explorer Will Steger, across two oceans with history-making
sailor Gerry Spiess, to Cuba with the University of St.
Thomas baseball team and to 34 other countries around
the world.
But
he didn't have to leave the country, or the Midwest, to
find good stories about good people: They lingered after
breakfast at northwoods' cafes; or they made heroic efforts
to save their cattle from the springtime floods.
They
were ordinary people who sometimes did extraordinary things
- or extraordinary people who did ordinary things. And
Jason Davis made their stories touch viewers and leave
lasting impressions.
